Steamy and a chance of showers

Faced away from the glorious cascade,

I’m swept up by the water’s warm embrace,

I listen to the pitter patter of its dance,

feeling the water chase the stress away.

The cobwebs in my mind now blown,

sets me free

from the demand of modernity.

And then the water droplets land

on the tiles

now causing ripples –

time to get out,

feel the cold slap of reality.

The title is inspired by that Cloudy and a Chance of Meatballs movie but to be honest there’s no reason – just felt like naming the post this :’)

I’m not very satisfied with the content I’m posting recently and I’m going to put that mostly down to rushing – yep, even though I spent more time writing for fun than I had for my English coursework…

I should probably change my tagline and I want to change the blog name too but I haven’t thought of a new one and it could confuse people. Edit: I changed them to what I think my blog is at the moment, whaddya think?

Anyway I’m going to keep writing and try to write more creatively than I have been. I’ve gained way more followers than I thought I would when I started this blog – thank you, readers. At this rate, maybe I will reach 100 followers by February. Hopefully you’ll start to see more than just poems and life updates on this blog.

“Am I imagining it?”

That brief spark between us.

…I must be;

it is dark, our faces dimly illuminated by the street lamp,

the shadows fall perfectly, framing her face,

our breaths melting into the darkness…

oddly alluring.

Was it just the night’s inebriation talking?

But before we said our goodbyes and parted, I could’ve sworn

the way she looked at me

let me see

a look I had never seen on her before;

a temporary lapse in filter.

I thought I saw a twinkle in her eyes

which were outlined in black, mascara-painted eyelashes spidery from a day’s wear –

I could almost get sucked into those eyes, aquamarine with bursts of amber.

And I couldn’t help but notice her peach coloured lips.

A suppressed smile probably crept upon my face

as I slowly made my way back to the warmth of the waiting car.

I’m never 100% sure whether I use semi colons correctly but sometimes commas and dashes don’t seem fitting.

These latest poems haven’t been my favourite but I hope someone out there finds them vaguely entertaining. And yes I posted at midnight because I couldn’t wait for a more ‘civilised’ hour on Tuesday (which is when I usually post if you’re new to my blog, hi:-) ). Feedback always appreciated.

Song: Shallow Love by Gabrielle Aplin (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LovisM0mPwY)

Call me old fashioned, but…

Typing; unthinking,

the soul is disconnected,

contained in boxes.

The pen in my hand,

like a neuron connected

to my mind – “Create”.

When/where/how do you do your best thinking or brainstorming?

I love technology but there’s some things that I prefer doing by hand – for example, I feel like people are missing out on the magic of reading if they have a kindle rather than a proper paperback book. I enjoy turning the pages, and the smell of a new book, just having a physical, signable copy of it in my hands. Not to mention being able to see it sitting proudly on my bookshelf.

Although I’ve been getting rid of a lot of stuff because I’m moving house next year. Being sentimental makes that task particularly difficult.

Apologies for posting late in the day, the weeks are going by so quickly for me!

Anyway, this poem really sums up my feelings towards my English teachers who are insistent upon everyone using Google Drive/Google Docs. One of them even let my whole class see my first fiction draft as his computer screen was also being displayed on the board. But the girl I sit next kindly tried to assuage my embarrassment, apparently she and other people think my work is good. Lately I have not been doing much for English and now I’ve got one week until the deadline for our first drafts for three pieces. Wish me luck…

I  tried posting this on my PC and the bug still happened. Is anyone else seeing their latest post is shown as posted weeks ago?

Edit: I just noticed that glaring typo in the title, oh dear. It wasn’t there in my original post, haha!
